pattrick i find it puzzling that you post and quote someone who quotes

saint paul and his writings –
And why my friend is that? Is Saint Paul in your opinion not worthy of being quoted?
(and you tell people that if they pray in tongues(in the spirit)- it might be the DEVIL!!)

Luke 11:11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give …

“You fathers–if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? … If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or …

because the standard for Saint Paul — is Acts 19

Paul in Ephesus 19 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when[a] you believed?”

They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?”

“John’s baptism,” they replied.

4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues[b] and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.
And that friend articulates well the problem with Protestantism; they don’t actually {objectively and really} believe in Jesus, … NOT for lack of effort, NOT even for lack of desire, BUT because God {the Holy Spirit} withholds right understanding as a self-inflicted penalty because NOT one time in recorded history, certainly nowhere in the bible, is there a shred of evidence that GOD ever permitted, tolerated, accepted, overlooked, condoned, or in ANY WAY approved of competing faiths, or competing faith beliefs, which is exactly and precisely what all Protestant {MEANS “to PROTEST”} do. Hence today there are thousands of differing understandings of what can ONLY BE {objectively & truly} singular truths per defined issues.

In previous experience of sharing this I have been told “you have your truth, AND I have mine.” That is a ridiculous unsupportable, illogical and dangerous position to hold. And it is WHY Protestants struggle so mightily with comprehending what GOD {Jesus} actually taught and desires.

Right understanding is a GIFT of the Holy Spirit; and its limited acceptance by the Protestant community with its ever growing numbers of churches and there individual sets of Faith beliefs on long defined and accepted teachings is the evidence of this fact. TRUTH can only be singular per defined issue. Not even being able to discern this fact is itself the clearest evidence of God;s blocking of complete RIGHT {God’s} understanding.

It seems prudent to insert here a disclaimer.

I wish to be clear that I am NOT making an attempt to convert, or even to convenience you. THAT my friend is the exclusive right {and ability} of the Holy Spirit. NO, my task is to share objectively, facts that are sustainable and supportable with RIGHT understanding,

My friend have you ever been exposed to the One Infallible Rule for right understanding of the Bible? Which BTW is a Catholic Book.

Never Ever; can, may or DOES

One verse, passage or teaching have the power or authority to

Invalidate, make void or override another

Verse, passage or teaching:

Were this even the slightest possibility; [it’s NOT!] it would render the entire Bible useless to teach or lean Christ Faith”

A Second FACT is: that TRUTH can only be singular per defined issue. How this is ignored by non-Catholics is astounding. It perhaps is the clearest and most evident evidence of what I am sharing.

2Peter 1: 19-21

And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: [20] Understanding this first that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation. [21] For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.

[Douay bible explanation]

[20] No prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation: This shews plainly that the scriptures are not to be expounded by any one’s private judgment or private spirit, because every part of the holy scriptures were written by men inspired by the Holy Ghost, and declared as such by the Church; therefore they are not to be interpreted but by the Spirit of God, which he hath left, and promised to remain with his Church to guide her in all truth to the end of the world. Some may tell us, that many of our divines interpret the scriptures: they may do so, but they do it always with a submission to the judgment of the Church, and not otherwise. End Quotes

“Whenever something is good it does not depend on us getting our way, but on God getting His way, and whether we do God’s Will depends on us [humbly] loving God. Moreover to love God we must [actually] know God, [not just know OF God].” Bread of Life booklet January 9, 2016”[Mt 7:21]

 2nd. Peter 3: 14-18

“Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen”

John 5: 37 “And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness to me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen; and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe him whom he has sentYou search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me; yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life [Speaking of accepting the entire WORD of GOD]. I do not receive glory from men .[Meaning disobedience is rampant!]  But I know that you have not the love of God within you.  I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me” [Obey Me!]

The bible evidence of Christ {God’s} Will is evident. Clear and precise, IF rightly understood. Towards that goal, I will share and explain the RIGHT understanding of a few passages.

Confession: A Pain that Ends in Joy
Karl Keating
#7 ben asinner – bolder, Colorado

certainly it is a good routine to have this as a child ,

but as an adult one should be able to have a good confession without the necessity of a priest, a act of contrition – really is effective, there should be spiritual maturity- but for the most part there is not, and many people agonize over confessing, as an adult you should be able to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit –
THAT my friend is NOT what Jesus desired, or commanded. It’s not even supportable in the Old Testament teachings.

I assume that you have read the entire bible? In doing so you had the opportunity to recognize GOD”S WILL to use “priest” {GOD”S Option}, in the process of sin forgiveness. Seeing that you somehow missed this, I will share just a bit of OT bible history with you.

Exodus 28:1
Take unto thee also
Aaron thy brother with his sons, from among the children of Israel, that they may minister to me in the priest’ s office: Aaron, Nadab, and Abiu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

Because they covered the collective sins of the people as a nation. Remember, no animal was perfect enough to remove sin. The blood of an animal could only cover sin (Yom Kippur means “Day of Covering”. )

Leviticus 4:26

But the fat he shall burn upon it, as is wont to be done with the victims of peace offerings: and the priest shall pray for him, and for his sin, and it shall be forgiven him

Leviticus 5:16
And he shall make good the damage itself which he hath done, and shall add the fifth part besides, delivering it to the priest, who shall pray for him, offering the ram, and it shall be forgiven him.

Leviticus 5:18
He shall offer of the flocks a ram without blemish to the priest, according to the measure and estimation of the sin: and the priest shall pray for him, because he did it ignorantly: and it shall be forgiven him,

Numbers 15:25
And the priest shall pray for all the multitude of the children of Israel: and it shall be forgiven them, because they sinned ignorantly, offering notwithstanding a burnt offering to the Lord for themselves and for their sin and their ignorance:

So we can clearly see here that GOD {Yahweh} freely choose His Priest to have a Role in the forgiveness of sins of His Chosen People {Exodus 6:7}. Jesus then freely choose to not only continue that Sacred Tradition, but also to, as is the role of the New Testament, to complete and even PERFECT the Old Testament.

Lev. 5:5 “When a man is guilty in any of these [sins], he shall confess the sin he has committed,”

Proverbs 28:13 “Those who conceal their sins do not prosper, but those who confess and forsake them obtain mercy.”

Sirach 4:26 “Do not be ashamed to acknowledge your sins, and do not struggle against a rushing stream.”

James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful

The Old Covenant people of God understood the necessity of confession and repentance of sins to remain in fellowship with God. All sin sacrifices began with confession of sin and all peace offerings (communion sacrifices) with a confession of praise. These Old Covenant animal sacrifices prefigured the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Heb 10:1-10).

2 Cor. 7: 10 “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.”

Matt.9 [6] “But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins” — he then said to the paralytic — “Rise, take up your bed and go home.” [8] When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.” {meaning BOTH to Jesus who in turn passed it on to His Apostles and their successors: Mt. 10:1-2;  Mt 16:18-19; John 17: 18, John 20:21, Mt. 28:18-20}.

James 4: 7-8 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you men of double mind.” All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him”

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 Jn. 1: 9

Mt. 7: 21-23 “Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.”

I acknowledged my sin to thee, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”; then thou didst forgive the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:5

I confess my iniquity, I am sorry for my sin. Psalm 38: 18

Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. James 5: 16

Do not be ashamed to confess your sins, Sir. 4:26

When a man is guilty in any of these, he shall confess the sin he has committed Lev. 5:5

He shall confess his sin which he has committed; and he shall make full restitution for his wrong Num. 5:7

1John.1 Verses 8 to 10 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

1John.5 Verses 16 to 17 “If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal.

To be clear here: MORTAL sins are those that GOD sees as grievous enough to warrant ETERNAL HELL if NOT Confessed & and Forgiven. This is man’s choice, NOT God’s. WE choose for ourselves Eternal Hell or Eternal Heaven; God only affirms OUR life choices, on which God’s Judgment will be made NOT on what we choose to accept, believe and practice, NO, this final Judgment will be made based upon what GOD HAS MADE POSSBLE FOR EACH OF US TO KNOW.

John.20 Verses 20 to 23“On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with YOU.” When he had said this, he showed THEM his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with YOU. As the Father has sent me, even so I send YOU.” And when he had said this, he breathed on THEM, and said to THEMReceive the Holy Spirit. If YOU forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if YOU retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

It’s hard to imagine that even GOD could be more precise and specific in the words that He choose as GOD to use. God of course could have chosen some other manner, so WHY didn’t He?… Not being able to understand this, and other precisely and clearly worded teachings such as Mt. 10: 1-2; Mt. 16:18-19, John 17:17-20, John 6: 47-58, 1st. Cor. 11:23-30, and Mt 28:18-20 as examples; prove objectively that God does withhold right understanding from the Protestant communities.

Here are some of the reasons:

It is no coincidence that not once, BUT twice in the same teaching Jesus proclaimed HIS desire for us: “PEACE BE WITH YOU”. … Sinning comes at a price. Jesus tells us is ?????????????  that having written on our very hearts the most basic moral truths ???????????? that our conscience if RIGHTLY Informed which BTW means in line with Catholic Church Teachings on FAITH matters to be believed & all Moral issues {only}, will guide and warn us, and “bug us” until the GUILT is removed.

Another issue Protestants fail to grasp is the Nature of God AND the very Nature of sin. Both having significance to Sacramental Confession.

Sacramental –Confession can rightly be termed the Sacrament of KNOWN sin forgiveness.

When the Catholic Priest, empowered by Christ, grants absolution, we can KNOW with absolute certainty, that ALL of our sins HAVE been forgiven by Christ Himself. … Peace be with YOU. As the Father has sent me, even so I send YOU.” And when he had said this, he breathed on THEM, and said to THEMReceive the Holy Spirit. If YOU forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if YOU retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

This is the ONLY manner; God’s NORM for man’s sins forgiveness, as commanded, as empowered and as desired by Jesus Christ {GOD!}. Any other method is at best suspect. The presumption that mortal men can and DO, dictate to GOD how He will forgive their sins, is a very risky assumption, and a post reformation 16th. Century invention & innovation. Tis fact is very much worthy of your careful and prayerful consideration.

So man’s inner peace was an primary objective of Christ institution of the Sacrament of Confession

Secondly, but on the same theme was Christ awareness of the burden we impose upon ourselves in choosing to sin, so the actual act of CONFESSING {there is an irrevocable seal of silence on the part of the priest. Literally even if threated with DEATH, they cannot revel what is shared in Sacramental Confession} itself was a removal of this self-imposed-GUILT- burden.

Thirdly: ALL of the Sacraments {seven of them ALL instituted by Christ} are a means, and an avenue of God’s grace, helpful to all in not sinning the same way again.

The ONLY unforgiveable sin is unbelief in God.

Further Sacramental Confession it is NOT a “Catholic innovation:, but CLEARLY a freely chosen DIRECTIVE from Almighty God. … Deny it at your own risk!

And we see In Mt 10: 1-2, Christ freely choose to share a portion of his Godly powers with the Apostles and their successors.

Mt 16:19 {GOD speaking here} “
[19] I will give you {all of them implied} the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever YOU bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever YOU loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

John 17:18-19 “[18] As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. [19] And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth.”

John 20:21 [21] Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with YOU. As the Father has sent me, even so I send YOU.”

Four biblical examples of GOD freely choosing to share some portion of His GODLY authority and POWER with His Apostles and by necessity their successors {COMPARE Mt 10:1-8 , especially verses 5 & 6, WITH Mt 28:18-20}… BUT this is limited to the successors of the Apostles as chosen by God.

It is a common practice for non-Catholic Christians to either overlook the fact or make light of it, that the Bible is a Catholic Book.

Catholics guided by the Holy Spirit choose the 47 PT books, and Catholics actually authored the ENTIRE New Testament guided by the Holy Spirit.

16] All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice, [17] That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work.

Douay Bible explanation: [16] All scripture,: Every part of divine scripture is certainly profitable for all these ends. But, if we would have the whole rule of Christian faith and practice, we must not be content with those Scriptures, which Timothy knew from his infancy, that is, with the Old Testament alone: nor yet with the New Testament, without taking along with it the traditions of the apostles, and the interpretation of the church, to which the apostles delivered both the book, and the true meaning of it.

Matthew 4:4

Who answered and said: It is written, Not in bread alone doth man live, but in
every wordthat proceedeth from the mouth of God.

Matthew 16: 18-19 “ [18] And I say to THEE: That thou art Peter; and upon {YOU} this rock I will build my CHURCH, [SINGULAR} and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. [19]And I will give to THEE {ALL OF} the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever YOU shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever YOU shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.”

John 17: 17-20 “ [17] “Sanctify THEM {THE APOSTLES & SUCCESSORS} in truth. Thy word is truth. [18] As thou hast sent me into the world, I HAVE ALSO SENT THEM into the world[19] And for THEM do I sanctify myself, that THEY also may be sanctified in truth. [20] And not for THEM only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me”

Matthew 28: 18-20 “ [18] And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth.{HERE IS ANOTHER TRANSFER OF GODLY POWERS TO HIS APOSTLES & THEIR SUCCESSORS ALSO VERIFIBLE IN Jn.17:18 & Jn. 20:21}  [19] Going therefore, teach YOU all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. [20]Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded {COMMANDED HERE MEANS BOTH TAUGHT & COMMANDED} YOU: and behold I am with YOU all days, even to the consummation of the world.

Douay Bible explanation :[18] All power: See here the warrant and commission of the apostles and their successors, the bishops and pastors of Christ’s church. He received from his Father all power in heaven and in earth: and in virtue of this power, he sends them (even as his Father sent him, St. John 20. 21) to teach and disciple, not one, but all nations; and instruct them in all truths: and that he may assist them effectually in the execution of this commission, he promises to be with them, not for three or four hundred years only, but all days, even to the consummation of the world. How then could the Catholic Church ever go astray; having always with her pastors, as is here promised, Christ himself, who is the way, the truth, and the life. St. John 14”

Therefore for a biblical understanding to be GOD’S Divine & Perfect Will, in an absolute sense, it MUST fully align with what the Catholic Church teaches.

{You’re chosen verses }
Ephesians 5 Standard Version (ESV)
Walk in Love

17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
SEE. This is exactly what I’m saying, precisely what I’m sharing. You don’t get it, because you can’t actually understand WHAT God’s Will is.
Christ Has Set Us Free
5 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
I wonder my friend just what you think this means, and why you choose it?
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
Once again I suspect you choose a teaching that you do not FULLY grasp. This speaks of OBEDIENCE in the very midst of what Protestantism objectively is: Disobedience.

God Bless you! I pray this will give you pause to consider.
